Belal Muhammad discusses running into "afraid" Leon Edwards and team in elevator: "They all looked like cowards"
Belal Muhammad recently came face-to-face with Leon Edwards for the first time this week ahead of UFC 304 while completing fight week obligations. Muhammad recently opened up about running into Edwards and his team in an elevator just days before their title fight.
Muhammad is set to challenge Edwards for the welterweight title in their rematch at UFC 304 at Co-op Live in Manchester. The two previously squared off at UFC Vegas 21 in March 2021. The bout was declared a no-contest after Muhammad was unable to continue owing to an eye poke from Edwards in the second round.
Muhammad has been demanding a rematch ever since, and he has found the wait to be frustrating. Now that the 36-year-old has the chance to compete for UFC gold, the long wait has paid off.
In a recent interview with MMA Junkie Radio on Tuesday, Muhammad discussed what transpired earlier in the day after an elevator run-in with Edwards, his brother Fabian Edwards, coach Dave Lovell, and a few other people from 'Rocky's' camp.
''I just saw him right now in the elevator. He looked like he was afraid. Him and his brother and his coach, they all looked like cowards. His coach was trying to talk a little bit of trash, so I’m hoping that his coach is at the press conference, because I know Leon’s not gonna be able to talk.''
He added:
''Leon didn't say a word, his coach was talking but he just has a weird stupid accent and he sounds like he kind of has autism or he's slow. I don’t know what he was saying, but he didn’t sound smart at all... They just look like a weird group of guys.''

In his last octagon outing at UFC 288, Muhammad defeated Gilbert Burns via unanimous decision. Meanwhile, Edwards is coming off a unanimous decision win against Colby Covington at UFC 296.
Belal Muhammad predicts UFC 304 title fight against Leon Edwards
Belal Muhammad is looking to dominate Leon Edwards inside the octagon at UFC 304. In a previous interview with MMA Junkie, Muhammad predicted that the fight would be one-sided and conclude in a finish.
Muhammad predicted a second-round victory, saying:
"Honestly I think I’m going to rock him really early, and then I’m going to take him down. I could finish him with a TKO, but I’m just going to let him back up... I’m going to get him in a rear-naked choke, probably in the first round, and then right before he’s about to tap, I’m going to let him go... Second round, I’m going to take him down again. I’m going to start hitting him, elbowing him... Then I’m going to finish him in the second round.''
