Belal Muhammad shares two-word reaction as CM Punk shouts him out on WWE Raw

Belal Muhammad is basking in the radiance of his freshly minted welterweight championship at UFC 304 and compliments are pouring in for his achievement. Most recently, WWE star CM Punk paid homage to the 36-year-old on Monday Night Raw.

Punk made an appearance on Raw in Baltimore following his match at WWE SummerSlam to issue a fresh callout to Drew McIntyre and Seth Rollins. However, before cutting the fiery promo, Punk congratulated his teammate Muhammad for his victory over Leon Edwards:

"I just want to take a real quick minute to shout out, and give some flowers to my good friend, my teammate, my brother Belal Muhammad. He won the UFC welterweight title. It’s been a busy week, I didn’t forget. Congratulations!"

During his two-fight MMA stint, Punk trained under head coach Duke Roufus at his gym in Milwaukee. Muhammad has also trained with Roufus in the past, which is possibly where they kindled their bond. In the past, Punk has also made an appearance on Muhammad's segment Remember The Show on the Anik & Florian podcast.

Muhammad shared a two-word reaction to the WWE star's message under an Instagram post by UFC on TNT Sports, writing:

"My brother [heart emoji]"

Belal Muhammad talks about potential matchups for first title defense

Following his win, several top contenders in the division are making their case for the next crack at the championship. Speaking about the potential options in an interview with ESPN MMA, Muhammad said:

"Anyone of them (Kamaru Usman or Shavkat Rakhmonov), right? Usman, obviously I think for legacy, he was one of the biggest names in the division, he’s under GSP (Georges St-Pierre) and I think he’s still got tread on the tires even though he had losses, close fight with Leon then a close fight to Khamzat (Chimaev)."

He added:

“I think name value he has a bigger name (than Rakhmonov), but also I want to fight the boogeyman, the boogeyman that everyone says that he can beat anybody, he can walk through anybody and the way my career has been they’ve always been putting me as an underdog."
