Belal Muhammad talks menacing plan to psych out Leon Edwards' corner at UFC 304
Belal Muhammad and Leon Edwards will battle for the latter's welterweight title this Summer but the banter is already ramping up from the former.
The Belal Muhammad versus Leon Edwards sequel clash will headline the upcoming Manchester, England pay-per-view event in July at UFC 304. Though it is a couple of months away, the two are delving into the pre-fight media work with the title challenger recently sounding off on his familiar adversary.
Speaking to MMA Junkie in a clip shared on their official X page, Muhammad gave his prediction for the bout by saying:
"I think that I'm gonna rock him really early and then I'm gonna take him down. I could finish him with a TKO but I'm just gonna let him back up. Then I'm gonna look to his coach and I'm gonna tell his coach yo, give him some motivational words. Let him man up, hurry up."
"His coach is going to look at me and he's gonna be like I don't know what to tell him and then I'm just gonna hit him again. Then I'm gonna say, say something to him. Then I'm gonna hit him again and then I'm gonna get him in a rear naked choke probably in the first round."
"Then right before he's about to tap I'm gonna let him go. Then I'm gonna let him breathe a little bit, go to his corner, hopefully his coach gives him some better advice."
Then in the following round, the number two ranked 170-pounder in the UFC mentioned how he would then look to his opponent's brother Fabian Edwards. 'Remember the Name' capped things off by mentioning how he'll eventually be done with the reigning champion by then and stated how he'll promptly finish Edwards in the second round.

Belal Muhammad and the Leon Edwards coach advice he was seemingly alluding to
The 35-year-old Belal Muhammad in the above quote was likely referencing a famous moment where Leon Edwards' coach Dave Lovell inspired his charge in a key moment during a huge fight. Not just any bout but the contest that saw 'Rocky' cement himself as the UFC's 170-pound champion as he was falling behind during his rematch with Kamaru Usman.
Muhammad seemed to be alluding to Edwards' coach firing Leon up in the corner by telling his fighter to stop feeling sorry for himself, asking what was wrong with him, and for the 170-pounder to pull this out of the fire.
Living up to his nickname, 'Rocky' pulled off a truly cinematic comeback when he finished the dominant Usman via head kick KO in the final round of their UFC 278 clash. A contest that saw him not only even up his series with Usman at one win apiece but saw Edwards become the new UFC welterweight champion in the process.
