'Big' John McCarthy blasts Dillon Danis for posing with unearned Bellator title belt against KSI

Dillon Danis is set to take on KSI in a boxing match on January 14, 2023, at Wembley Arena in London.

A press conference was scheduled to take place on Friday, but 'El Jefe' was a no-show at the event. Despite not turning up at the media scrum, Danis posted a Photoshopped picture of himself standing next to KSI, sporting two Bellator world championship belts.

Current commentator for Bellator, John McCarthy, took exception with 'El Jefe' for his decision to wield two belts he didn't win. 'Big John' took to Twitter to call Danis out:

"Whose belts did you borrow or steal for this photo? Real fighters don’t pose with championship belts won by others."

Dillon Danis has competed in Bellator on two occasions without coming close to a title shot. His record inside the promotion is 2-0, but he has not fought in MMA for over three years. Despite still being contracted by Bellator, it doesn't appear likely that 'El Jefe' will compete in the cage anytime soon.

Scott Coker shares his thoughts on Dillon Danis fighting KSI

Current CEO of Bellator MMA Scott Coker recently discussed the upcoming boxing match between still-contracted Bellator fighter Dillon Danis and KSI in January 2023.

Danis has a background in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and has won both of his professional MMA fights by submission. But he will be entering unfamiliar territory against the YouTuber in London, and Coker believes that he will be in for a tough night.

The Bellator CEO appeared in front of the media following Bellator 289 last weekend, and said:

"Dillon wants to go take this boxing fight, and I said, 'Good luck, you're gonna have your hands full.' He is still under contract, and we've been trying to get him to fight for a long time. But he saw an opportunity with KSI, and so I wished him luck. It's a good deal for him."

KSI has proven his boxing skills in recent years and has shown gradual improvement throughout his professional career. With two KO victories on the same night at MF & DAZN: X Series 001 this year, the YouTuber will enter the ring on January 14 full of confidence.
