BJJ icon Andre Galvao says Tye and Kade Ruotolo seized ‘black belt jiu-jitsu knowledge’ from a young age

Legendary BJJ coach Andre Galvao believes grappling duo Tye and Kade Ruotolo were training with black belt knowledge from a very early age.

Already sharing a lifetime's worth of accomplishments, it's hard to remember that the Ruotolo are only 21 years old and, by all accounts, are just getting started in their combat sports careers. Currently, both of them reign as ONE submission grappling world champions, with Kade Ruotolo claiming the lightweight crown while Tye Ruotolo resides over the welterweight division.

During a recent interview with FloGrappling, Galvao shared some insight into just how gifted the two brothers truly are, revealing that they already had a very strong understanding of the sport before the age of 10.

"Tye and Kade [Ruotolo], they’ve known black belt jiu-jitsu knowledge since they were nine years old," the Atos Jiu-Jitsu co-founder said.

Tye Ruotolo earned his seventh-straight win under the ONE banner on July 5, securing a decisive decision victory over Jozef Chen at ONE Fight Night 23 on Prime Video. With his bout in the books, he'll turn his attention toward helped his brother, Kade Ruotolo, prepare for the perhaps the biggest grappling match in ONE Championship history.

Kade Ruotolo defends his title against Mikey Musumeci at ONE 168: Denver

On Friday, September 8, Kade Ruotolo will put his ONE lightweight submission grappling world championship up for grabs at ONE 168: Denver, emanating from Ball Arena in The Mile High City.

Standing in his way of another successful defense will be BJJ sensation and current ONE flyweight submission grappling world titleholder Mikey Musuemci.

Musumeci will be moving up three weight classes for the opportunity to make history by becoming ONE's first-ever two-division submission grappling king. And like his opponent, Musuemci goes into the contest with a spotless 7-0 record inside the Circle.
