Bo Nickal envisions himself facing Khamzat Chimaev in the future

Bo Nickal is set to make his promotional debut at UFC 285 this weekend with plenty of hype following two dominant performances on Dana White's Contender Series. The highly-touted middleweight prospect shared that he visualizes himself facing Khamzat Chimaev in the biggest event in UFC history.

Speaking at the media day ahead of UFC 285, the former collegiate wrestler discussed potentially facing 'Borz', stating:

"It would be huge. Obviously, he has a lot of attention. He's probably the biggest, most hyped guy coming up right now that hasn't won a belt yet, and I think that eventually us clashing is inevitable. That's something that I visualize in my training, when I'm in a hard workout, getting my last bike sprint in, getting my last rep in. In the weight room, I'm visualizing that."

Bo Nickal shared his lofty expectations for a potential clash, adding:

"Whether that fight comes in a year or in three years or in five years - whatever it is, I'll be ready. I do a lot of visualization and I see that fight happening [as a] main event in Raiders stadium, in front of whatever hundred thousand people and I think it would be the biggest event in UFC history."

Khamzat Chimaev is currently the No.3-ranked welterweight, however, he has teased a potential move to middleweight for quite some time. While both fighters have considerable hype, it is hard to envision a bout between the two surpassing UFC 229 as the biggest event in promotional history.

Dricus du Plessis comments on Bo Nickal opening UFC 285 main card

Dricus du Plessis will face Derek Brunson in a top-ten middleweight matchup that will be on the preliminary card of UFC 285. The No.10-ranked middleweight recently shared that he is not thrilled with being bypassed on the main card for an unranked middleweight bout featuring Bo Nickal and Jamie Pickett.

Speaking to The Schmo, du Plessis stated:

"I guess maybe the UFC's like, 'listen, we have an American Khamzat [Chimaev] here, but I think it's bulls**t quite honestly. This guy coming in making his UFC debut fighting on the main card. I've had four fights, three performance bonuses, and I get booted to the undercard, but no hate, no hate. It's not his fault. He's only here to fight, but the proofs in the pudding. Once you get under those lights, let's see how you perform then."

It is not shocking that du Plessis is upset with being overlooked on the main card for a promotional newcomer, however, the UFC appears to be attempting to fast track Nickal into stardom. Du Plessis will look to enter the top-five of the middleweight rankings with a victory over Brunson at UFC 285.
