Breaking: Anthony Smith and Jamahal Hill will be facing off to headline March 11th UFC event
Following his late TKO win over Thiago Santos earlier this year, Jamahal Hill is set to face a top-5 ranked light heavyweight opponent in his next outing when he welcomes Anthony Smith back into the octagon.
'Sweet Dreams' is a Dana White's Contender Series alumni who has quickly got to work inside the cage to make the UFC his new stomping ground. Aside from a submission loss to Paul Craig, the knockout artist has won five times and had one no-contest since joining the promotion back in 2020.
As reported by MMAFighting, Anthony Smith is returning to action after his loss to Magomed Ankalaev in July. He will hope to get back on track against the always-dangerous Jamahal Hill, with their clash reportedly scheduled for March 11th.
Jamahal Hill's three-fight win streak has earned him his third main-event placement since arriving in the UFC, with the bout set to take place in four months' time.
Although not much is known about the event thus far, the 205lb clash between Hill and Smith is thought to be the main attraction on the night. The fight night is scheduled to take place between UFC 285 and UFC 286, two cards that are reportedly going to be huge showcases from the promotion.
What does a win do for Jamahal Hill?
Jamahal Hill finds himself sitting just outside the top 5 at light heavyweight. However, he has his chance to push ahead and be recognized as one of the best fighters in his weight class.
He gets the chance to do that when he steps into the octagon across from veteran Anthony Smith in the first quarter of 2023. While the 31-year-old possesses incredible knockout power, he is facing off with arguably one of the most well-rounded athletes on the roster.
'Lionheart's' ability to knock fighters out on their feet while also being able to catch them in submissions when the bout hits the ground is what makes him the most dangerous when the cage door closes.
A win could skyrocket Hill into title contention. With Jiri Prochazka recently vacating his light heavyweight strap, the Chicago-born brawler could be much closer to getting his hand on UFC gold than he was prior.
