BREAKING: Conor McGregor eyes move to middleweight in future

Conor McGregor has set his sights on a potential move to the middleweight division, according to a recent tweet.

At UFC 205, the Irishman embarked on his journey of becoming a multi-division UFC world champion. Additionally, at the pre-fight press conference, the Irishman claimed that he's coming for "all the belts" when asked about a potential move to the welterweight division to fight then-champion Tyron Woodley.

During a recent Twitter spree, Conor McGregor conceived a desire to compete in the middleweight division. Considering the muscle mass he's put on, 'The Notorious' is confident that a move to 185-pound is inevitable:

"I’m gonna give middleweight a go at some point 100%."

McGregor went on to share some sparring footage from his training camp for the Donald Cerrone fight at UFC 246. The Irishman claimed that he was sparring with middleweight and light heavyweight contenders in preparation for the fight and that he's way bigger than he was back in January 2020.

According to McGregor, his sparring partners took turns to start fresh each round. McGregor stated:

"I’d be a big fridge at middleweight. But hot like oven same time, you know yourself, catch it on ppv [pay-per-view]. Don’t know though. It be hard work. Those rounds against those middle/lhw, they were alternating fresh each round. I’ve put in psycho work doing this job over the years."

Conor McGregor has previously held titles in the featherweight and lightweight divisions of the UFC. He is also one of the only two fighters in the promotion to hold knockout victories in three separate divisions.

When Conor McGregor accepted a fight against UFC middleweight legend Anderson Silva

Following his spectacular fight with Israel Adesanya at UFC 234, Anderson Silva took the opportunity to call for a mega-fight against the sport's biggest star Conor McGregor.

The Irishman was impressed by Silva's display in the fight against 'The Last Stylebender' and seemingly agreed to a potential fight:

"Anderson is one crafty, crafty Martial Artist. You only develop these methods through years of hard fought experience. Phenomenal performance. The crafty veteran. Big respect always. It would be an honor!"

According to Silva, McGregor contacted him to bring the fight to fruition. The UFC, however, did not seem keen on the idea and the fight never materialized.
