Dustin Poirier and UFC sign new multi-year marketing partnership
Regardless of the outcome of his fight this Saturday at UFC 281, Dustin Poirier has already received a massive victory outside the octagon.
The UFC announced that they have agreed to a multi-year marketing partnership with the former interim lightweight champion’s hot sauce brand, Poirier’s Louisiana Style. The brand will now serve as the promotion’s official hot sauce.
'The Diamond' is excited about the news, and mentioned that all his hard work is paying off. He also mentioned that this partnership continues to help build his legacy:
“It’s all about building a legacy for my family and my community. These hot sauces come from the cuisine I grew up with in Lafayette, Louisiana. These are my roots, and I’m excited for UFC fans to share the Cajun flavors I love.”
This is a significant partnership for ‘The Diamond’, especially from a business perceptive as his brand will be a lot more visible on a global scale. The UFC has well over 34 million Instagram followers, so the Poirier Louisiana Style logo will be visible to a larger audience.
‘The Diamond’ recently unveiled his brand’s latest hot sauce flavor, Creole Maple. The flavor is in collaboration with Heartbeat Hot Sauce, whose co-founder Al Bourbouhakis was also excited to partner with the former UFC lightweight title challenger:
“We are excited to offer a truly innovative flavor that brings together ingredients that represent both sides of this partnership, Louisiana and Ontario (Canada). It’s our mission to help people experiment with their recipes and make home-cooked meals more exciting, and working in partnership with Dustin (Poirier), Dulcedo, and Heatonist has been a fun way to test new creations.”
Dustin Poirier will fight Michael Chandler at UFC 281
Dustin Poirier will fight Michael Chandler at UFC 281, which is a highly anticipated bout in a stacked lightweight division. Both fighters are looking to get back in the title picture at 155lbs and make a strong case for why they should be considered for a future title shot.
‘The Diamond’ hasn’t fought since last December, when he challenged Charles Oliveira for the UFC lightweight championship. He came up short in his second attempt at UFC gold as ‘Do Bronx’ submitted him via rear-naked choke in the third round.
The former interim lightweight champion has teased a move to 170lbs in the past, but a big win against the former Bellator lightweight champion could be enough to set him up for a title eliminator bout.
