BREAKING: Kelvin Gastelum reportedly set to clash against Chris Curtis at UFC 287
Kelvin Gastelum has reportedly been booked for his octagon return after missing out on the first UFC headliner of the year.
According to MMA Mania's Alex Behunin, Gastelum will face Chris Curtis in a middleweight clash at UFC 287 on April 8. While the venue for the card is yet to be confirmed, rumors suggest Brooklyn, New York, as the most likely option.
Confirming the matchup, Gastelum wrote on Twitter:
"Finally get to fight in front of a sold out crowd, it’s been too long #UFC287"
The card will also feature the sophomore UFC outing of 18-year-old Raul Rosas Jr., the youngest athlete on the promotion's roster, against Christian Rodriguez.
The rest of the card currently looks like this:
Rob Font vs. Adrian Yanez.
Michelle Waterson vs. Luana Pinheiro
Cynthia Calvillo vs. Loopy Godinez
Ignacio Bahamondes vs. Nikolas Motta
Steve Garcia Jr. vs. Shayilan Nuerdanbieke
Kelvin Gastelum was originally scheduled to headline the first UFC card of 2023 against Nassourdine Imavov on January 14. However, the former interim title challenger was forced to pull out due to a gruesome mouth injury, further delaying his octagon return.
Kelvin Gastelum has been out of action since a unanimous decision loss to Jared Cannonier in August 2021. Meanwhile, Chris Curtis is coming off a highlight-reel KO win over Joaquin Buckley at UFC 282 in December. 'Action-Man' also bounced back from a decision loss to Jack Hermansson that snapped a four-fight winning streak.
