Current UFC lightweight king Islam Makhachev also threw his hat in the ring for a fight against Edwards. The Dagestani uploaded a tweet where he called for a fight against the Birmingham fighter in Abu Dhabi in October.

I want Leon next, October in Abu Dhabi 👊🏼

Colby Covington, who was in attendance for the UFC 286 event in London, England also uploaded a similar post, challenging Edwards for a fight in July.

See you in July @Leon_edwardsmma

Leon Edwards went up against Kamaru Usman in a highly anticipated trilogy fight in the main event of UFC 286. 'Rocky' had an impressive outing as he got the better of Usman for the majority of the five-round fight. But in one instance, a point wwas deducted from the Birmingham fighter for grabbing the fence.

The contest went the full 25-minute distance and Edwards was declared the winner by majority decision. The three judges scored the bout 48-46, 48-46 and 47-47 in favor of 'Rocky'.

Colby Covington comments on Leon Edwards' performance at UFC 286

Colby Covington was not impressed with Leon Edwards' performance against Kamaru Usman on March 18.

After 'Rocky's victory, Megan Olivi interviewed Covington during the UFC 286 live broadcast. 'Chaos' shared that he did not see anything special in Edwards' performance. Covington also claimed that the event taking place in 'Rocky's home country also played a factor in the scoring of the fight.

"I didn't see anything special. I see a guy that isn't hungry anymore. It looks like he got the title and he made his money and he's kind of cashed out. Of course he's going to get some home-cooking judging. He got his little home affair. Now it's time to come see the man."

Covington is 2-2 in his last four UFC encounters and has not competed in the octagon for over a year. So, although he was the back-up fighter for the UFC 286 main event, it might not be easy for 'Chaos' to get back into the title picture.
