Breaking down Prajanchai PK Saenchai vs. Jonathan Di Bella at ONE Friday Fights 68
Prajanchai PK Saenchai is facing his old rival Jonathan Di Bella in a classic barnburner at ONE Friday Fights 68 on June 28.
The long-awaited ONE world title showdown will headline the card inside the legendary Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, where Di Bella and ONE strawweight Muay Thai world champion is set to fight for the vacant kickboxing belt.
Previously, Di Bella claimed the kickboxing crown in 2022, defended it once, and was set to defend it again against Prajanchai in April, at ONE Friday Fights 58.
But he was hit with a severe illness and hospitalization just a day before that fight, where he failed to pass his hydration test and stripped of the belt, while the bout was canceled.
Now, the Montreal native wants to recapture the 26 pounds of gold he once held.
However, the 29-year-old Thai legend has nearly 400 professional fights on his resume, with the latest being a world title-winning knockout over Joseph Lasiri. He is also long considered as one of the planet’s top pound-for-pound strikers.
On Friday, Prajanchai will have plenty of motivation as he aims for two-sport glory in the world’s largest martial arts organization.
Jonathan Di Bella wants a fight in Denver or Atlanta if he reclaims gold
As Jonathan Di Bella prepares for his next opportunity to reclaim the ONE strawweight kickboxing belt, he's aiming big and hopes to fight in the United States.
In an interview with Calf Kick Sports, the 27-year-old conveyed his biggest dream if he manages to rake in a victory against Prajanchai PK Saenchai at ONE Friday Fights 68:
"It's hard to think about that because I've only been thinking about him right now. So, I don't know. There's always contenders I want to fight. So whoever is next in line, I don't mind. I don't care. As long as I defend it on North American soil next."
ONE Championship has two American events for 2024 - September 6 in Denver, Colorado, and November 8 in Atlanta, Georgia.
