Breaking- Rob Font and Adrian Yanez are set to face off at UFC 287 on April 8

The UFC have added a bantamweight clash to UFC 287 as Rob Font and Adrian Yanez will compete at the event, which is scheduled to take place on April 8 at a venue that is yet to be announced.

MMA Fighting reporter Mike Heck originally reported that the bout was set for April 8. There will be a lot at stake for both bantamweights, especially as far as the rankings are concerned.

Yanez is currently riding an impressive 9-fight winning streak dating back to his tenure in LFA in 2019. He joined the UFC in 2020 after earning a contract on Dana White's Contender Series. He is an exciting bantamweight who has earned a post-fight bonus in all 5 of his UFC bouts.

Font, on the other hand, could have his back against the wall in terms of his ranking in the bantamweight division. He is the No.6 ranked bantamweight and will be looking to snap his two-fight losing skid after back-to-back unanimous decision losses to Jose Aldo and Marlon Vera.

It remains to be seen whether the bout will be featured on the main card or serve as one of the headliners for the prelims.

Adrian Yanez has been an exciting addition to the UFC roster since earning his contract following a knockout win on Dana White's Contender Series.

The No.13 ranked bantamweight has an opportunity to extend his winning streak to 10 straight fights when he competes against Rob Font at UFC 287. If he decisively defeats Font, whose ranked No.6, it wouldn't be too far fetched to take his spot in the rankings.

In 5 UFC fights, the 29-year-old has earned 4 Performance of the Night bonuses and one Fight of the Night bonus, so a win could make a strong argument for top-10 consideration.
