BREAKING: Ryan Garcia claims Devin Haney has broken his jaw in majority decision loss

Ryan Garcia has suggested that he broke Devin Haney's jaw in their fight earlier tonight (April 20, 2024).

Their boxing match was one of the most hyped combat sports contests of the 2024 calendar year. Many believe it not only lived up to but surpassed fans' expectations. Heading into the fight, which was to be contested for Haney's WBC super lightweight title, 'The Dream' made weight while Garcia came in at 143.2 pounds (3.2 pounds above the weight limit).

Ergo, Garcia was ineligible to win the belt even if he won the fight. Regardless, come fight night, 'KingRy' put on an incredible display of power and technical boxing prowess against his longtime rival.

The boxing superstar secured three knockdowns against Haney over the 12-round fight that went the distance. In the end, 'KingRy' was awarded the majority decision victory (112-112, 114-110, 115-109), as one judge scored it a draw while two other judges had it for Garcia.

What's next for Ryan Garcia after victory over Devin Haney?

Ryan Garcia is a former WBC interim lightweight champion. Despite his victory over Devin Haney, he wasn't handed the WBC super lightweight championship. Besides, the consensus was that Haney would lose the WBC super lightweight title owing to his defeat against 'KingRy' and that the title would be vacant.

However, as suggested by WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman in the tweet below, Haney is still the WBC super lightweight champion despite the defeat.

For his part, Ryan Garcia appears to be basking in the glory of his tremendous victory. During the post-fight press conference, he notably jibed at his detractors for questioning his preparedness and commitment toward the fight in the build-up to the event. Furthermore, he highlighted that he consumed alcohol every day heading into his clash against Haney and still emerged victorious.

On the other hand, Haney alluded to the fact that 'KingRy' missed weight for their clash while he didn't. 'The Dream' reiterated that he's been a consummate professional and still believes he's worthy of being the WBC super lightweight champion. Moreover, he emphasized that he'd like to face Garcia in a rematch. Neither fighter's next match has been officially announced yet.
