Brendan Schaub admits he was wrong about Dricus du Plessis after latter's online quip: "Kudos. Nothing but respect."

Brendan Schaub recently conceded that he underestimated Dricus du Plessis' chances against Israel Adesanya at UFC 305. 'Stillknocks' decisively defended his UFC middleweight title last weekend by submitting Adesanya with a fourth-round rear-naked choke at the RAC Arena in Perth, Western Australia.

Before the bout, the betting odds were finely balanced, with many, including the former UFC heavyweight, favoring Adesanya to win. However, du Plessis silenced the doubters with his victory and wasted no time turning to social media to deliver a sharp jab at Schaub for his prediction. He posted on X:

"@BrendanSchaub, great prediction has been, haha JK, you have never been."

Schaub recently shared a video on social media and acknowledged that he had misjudged the South African in his initial assessment. The MMA fighter-turned-podcaster admitted that du Plessis is a highly versatile and unorthodox opponent, making him particularly challenging to prepare for. He said:

"Because he's so well-rounded, he's tough to prepare for. He's going in there, and he makes it a straight-up fight. Is he Mackenzie Dern or Gilbert Burns on the ground? Nope, he's not a 10 down there; he's an eight. Is he a 10 on the feet? Nope, he's an eight. He just always figures out how to get the job done—that's what he's world-class at. He's good at everything. Your boy was wrong. Kudos. He's a beast. Nothing but respect."

The bout was tightly contested, but du Plessis showcased remarkable resilience. In the championship rounds, 'Stillknocks' unleashed a flurry of punches that left Adesanya dazed. He swiftly capitalized with a takedown and locked in the rear-naked choke to secure the victory.

Dricus du Plessis jabs at Drake over massive betting loss

Drake had previously posted a screenshot of his betting slip, revealing his hefty $450,000 wager on Israel Adesanya to dethrone Dricus du Plessis at UFC 305.

Regrettably for the Canadian rapper, 'The Last Stylebender' succumbed to a submission loss. Meanwhile, du Plessis seized the moment and took a jab at Drake for betting against him. 'Stillknocks' wrote:

"From the bottom of my heart once again, THANK YOU @Drake."
