Bruce Buffer narrates how Dana White saved the UFC from its "darkest times"

UFC announcer Bruce Buffer believes that Dana White and the Fertitta brothers' takeover was the best thing that happened to the sport and himself.

During an appearance on social media celebrity Logan Paul's IMPAULSIVE podcast, the 65-year-old narrated how White and the Fertittas saved the promotion from certain doom.

Buffer noted that only after the UFC came under the helm of Dana White did it rise to the global combat sports spectacle it is today:

"[I used to feel stagnant in my career] before [the] Fertittas and Dana White bought it [UFC]. I realized we could be almost out of business. Then I get a call from the boss... 'I sold the UFC... I sold it to Dana White and the Fertitta brothers and they want to keep you and [former MMA referee] Big John McCarthy.'"

He added:

"I realized the passion of [the] Fertitta brothers and [the] passion of Dana White [for MMA] and I thought my whole energy and my... passion was relit. Since then, working under Dana White and the whole UFC machine has been nothing but a rocket ship to just constantly going uphill and I have a first-class seat."

When Bruce Buffer narrated his infamous elevator fight

In addition to announcing fights, Bruce Buffer can also dish out a proper beating if it comes to that.

During an appearance on Hotboxin' with Mike Tyson, the 65-year-old told the former heavyweight champion boxer about his infamous elevator brawl at the Hard Rock Hotel with former UFC middleweight Frank Trigg.

The unpleasantries happened after Trigg karate-chopped Buffer in the throat while riding an elevator with Dana White. The duo then proceeded to fight out it in the elevator until it reached the hotel lobby:

"We were at the Hard Rock hotel, it was after the [UFC] fights. I decided to go to [ex-commentator] Mike Goldberg’s room and there is Frank Trigg and we all had a drink together, and we say we're going to go out to dinner... We walked to the elevator and when the elevator open,s there's Dana White."

Buffer continued:

"Frank... was immediately saying to Dana, 'When are you going to put me in another fight?' ... And I'm a watch freak... Dana had this really cool watch on... and I turn to Dana [and said], 'What a watch.' ... Wnd when I did that... I got a ridge hand on my throat... and he [Trigg] said the wrong thing to me, he said,' What are you going to do about it?' So I just reacted, I just went boom, boom [motions punching], and then it was on and the doors close and we're throwing on each other for 10 floors."
