Former UFC Champion Cain Velasquez has been denied bail without explanation by the court
Cain Velasquez received no explanation from the court for his denied bail request.
The MMA community has eagerly waited for an update on Velasquez's imprisonment, but things don't seem to be getting better. According to MMA Junkie, the former UFC champion submitted a 246-page request to overturn Judge Shelyna Brown' ruling for no bail. The request was denied without explanation.
Velasquez has been incarcerated since March for allegedly chasing down suspected molester Harry Goularte and trying to shoot him while driving on the highway. Goularte is being accused of molesting the former UFC champion's 4-year-old son.
Despite the general public's understanding of why Velasquez did what he did, the American Kickboxing Academy fighter (AKA) could face 20 years to life for attempted murder and multiple gun assault charges. Meanwhile, Goularte is facing a felony charge for lewd acts with a minor.
So, what's next? Velasquez will return to court for a pre-trial hearing on November 7 in San Jose, California. He and his family are also filing a civil lawsuit against Goularte, with a hearing scheduled for March 2023.

Javier Mendez uses 'Cain Velasquez' as a code word for Abubakar Nurmagomedov's fight at UFC 280
Hearing Velasquez depicted as a violent criminal has been heartbreaking for his fans and close friends. AKA coach Javier Mendez recently brought up Velasquez's skills as a fighter, reminding everyone of the former UFC champion's life before the chaos.
Abubakar Nurmagomedov picked up a big win at UFC 280 and was asked about Mendez calling out 'Cain Velasquez' in his corner. During the post-fight media interview, Nurmagomedov had this to say:
“[Velasquez] moved all the time – outside, jab, boxing... Because my opponent was from my country, he understood my language. He doesn’t speak language. So we had some [code] words. ‘Cain Velasquez’ meant ‘move like Cain Velasquez’ or something like that.”
Although it was a small reference, hearing positive things about Velasquez was relieving. Life has not been easy for the AKA product recently, and being denied bail is another step in the wrong direction. Like his MMA career, the former UFC champion must keep fighting and hope that justice is served.
