Caleb Plant’s fight with Trevor McCumby takes a “personal” turn after recent remarks about the former champ being a “quitter"

Caleb Plant and Trevor McCumby are in the final stages of preparations for their clash on Sept. 14, and tensions are rising ahead of fight night. After being labeled as a "quitter" by McCumby, the former IBF world champion feels the bout has now become personal.

Plant does not take disrespect lightly, having been involved in several incidents outside of the ring involving fellow boxers. He was captured slapping former WBC champion Jermall Charlo after he grapped the face of 'Sweethands' earlier this year.

The 32-year-old was more recently captured getting into a scuffle with Ryan Garcia after throwing a beer at 'KingRy' in the crowd for Gervonta Davis vs. Frank Martin. Plant's actions were prompted by some online trash-talk from Garcia directed at the Tennessee native.

Ahead of his clash with McCumby, Plant was interviewed by TMZ Sports, where he discussed his opponent's comments, saying:

"It does bother me. Anyone who knows me, I don't have to speak for myself, people who know me know I'm not a quitter. If you know my story, if you know what I've had to do to get here and stay here, if you've seen me fight, I'm a lot of things but a quitter is not one of them... It's always business, but it made it more personal."

Caleb Plant slams Ryan Garcia for picking Trevor McCumby to beat him

Caleb Plant and Ryan Garcia have once again gone back-and-forth online after 'KingRy' predicted that Trevor McCumby would defeat him in their upcoming clash.

With Plant having lost two of his previous three fights, he will be looking to make a statement against McCumby, and the trash-talk directed at him from both his opponent, and Garcia, will only strengthen his motivation ahead of fight night.

The super lightweight boxer recently took to X to share the following:

"Trevor McCumby will pull off the W and upset over Caleb Plant. Book it. Trust me on this!"

'Sweethands' came across Garcia's post online, and slammed him as well as McCumby for previously failing drug tests in their respective careers. He wrote:

"A cheater picking another cheater to win! Imagine that!"
