Canelo Alvarez is unfazed by Noche UFC clash on Mexican Independence Day: "When Canelo fights it’s different"
Canelo Alvarez recently opened up about his next bout being on the same night as UFC Noche, which is scheduled to take place on Sep.14. Although both events taking place on the same night could result in a diminished profit, the boxing star doesn't appear fazed.
Both events are significant as they take place in celebration of Mexican Independence Day, with the boxing event emanating from T-Mobile Arena and the UFC at the Sphere in Las Vegas. Considering that, one would assume that Alvarez will have tough pay-per-view competition when he fights unbeaten Edgar Berlanga.
Championship Rounds tweeted a clip from the Mexican star's appearance on Million Dollaz Worth of Game, where he shared his thoughts on his event clashing with UFC Noche. Alvarez spoke about himself in the third person and mentioned that he is a massive star and won't be impacted by another combat sports event. He said:
"No, [UFC numbers won't crush my numbers]. This is different. Maybe other boxing match, maybe [the numbers would be impacted] but Canelo is different...Canelo is just different. I don't care if the UFC is there, when Canelo fights it's different."
