Canelo Alvarez vs. Edgar Berlanga: Fight card, date, start time, streaming, how to watch, venue, and more
Canelo Alvarez is set to return to action on Sept. 14 when he takes on Edgar Berlanga in Las Vegas. The pair are set to headline an exciting night of fights at T-Mobile Arena, which will see Alvarez put his WBC, WBA, and WBO super middleweight titles on the line.
Heading into the fight, 'Canelo' is in fine form and is looking to defend his undisputed status once again. The Mexican boxing star has already defended the super middleweight titles on four occasions, but many believe this latest test could be one of the toughest of his career so far.
For Berlanga, the 27-year-old looks to be in the best position he can be to cause the upset, after he picked up a TKO win over Padraig McCrory in February this year. His win extended his undefeated record to (22-0) and earned him the status as the WBA mandatory challenger.
Outside of the main event, the rest of the fight card also promises to deliver for fans. In the co-main, Erislandy Lara is set to face off against Danny Garcia in a middleweight clash.
Elsewhere, Caleb Plan takes on Trevor McCumby at super middleweight, Rolando Romero will face Manuel Jaimes at junior welterweight and Stephen Fulton faces rising contender Carlos Castro at featherweight.
For fans interested in watching the event, the action kicks off at 8 PM ET / 1 AM (BST), with the main event ringwalks expected to start at 11 PM ET / 4 AM (BST).
The pay-per-view will be available for purchase on DAZN or through PBC PPV on Prime Video.
Eddie Hearn doesn't believe Terence Crawford will fight again, unless he faces Canelo Alvarez
According to Eddie Hearn, Terence Crawford's boxing career could be over. The boxing promoter believes Crawford could be set to hang up his gloves if he's unable to secure a mega fight against Canelo Alvarez.
'Bud' most recently competed against one of Eddie Hearn's fighters, Israil Madrimov, where he secured the WBA and WBO interim super welterweight world titles. He then stated he wanted to step up and face Alvarez, with the potential bout expected to be hosted in Saudi Arabia.
However, talks surrounding Crawford vs. Alvarez quickly soured and his excellency Turki Alalshikh confirmed that he was no longer interested in working with Alvarez following reports 'Canelo' had been asking for a minimum of $200 million as his fight purse.
Hearn then discussed Crawford's future and the potential bout against Canelo Alvarez with Fight Hub TV. He said:
"I don't think Terence Crawford will ever fight again. I think unless he gets Canelo Alvarez, I don't think Crawford will fight again. He definitely won't fight Virgil Ortiz, won't rematch Madrimov. He made a lot of money and I think he's comfortable, isn't he?"
