Chael Sonnen challenges "p***y" Conor McGregor to boxing match in explicit rant with withdrawl threat

Conor McGregor hasn't fought since 2021, but remains the most popular target for fighters everywhere, with Chael Sonnen recently taking to X/Twitter to challenge the Irishman to a boxing match. Not only did he call on 'The Notorious' to face him inside the squared circle of boxing, he also offered a sensational stipulation.

In mockery of the broken toe that forced McGregor to withdraw from UFC 303, Sonnen claimed he would break his own toe a day prior to the hypothetical boxing match, all in an effort to prove how weak-minded he believes the Irishman to be.

"If he ever drank enough of his own whiskey to agree to box I would break my own toe w/a hammer the day before the fight to prove he's a... P***Y."

There's virtually no chance that the proposed boxing match will ever take place, as both men are in vastly different points in their careers. Sonnen is retired, having last fought in 2019, when he was TKO'd by former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida.

Meanwhile, 'The Notorious' is still gearing up for his UFC return, having not set foot inside the octagon since 2021. Furthermore, Sonnen is in his late forties, while McGregor is in his mid-thirties. However, if a boxing match between the pair were scheduled, the pre-fight press conference would be legendary.

Both men are hailed as the greatest trash talkers MMA has ever seen, with Sonnen defined by his wit, comedic timing, composure under pressure, and commitment to playing the heel. McGregor, conversely, is brasher, louder, and more vitriolic, with a willingness to get deeply personal to break his foes.

The feud between Conor McGregor and Chael Sonnen has been bubbling under the surface

The issues between Conor McGregor and Chael Sonnen have been building for some time now, with the two having an infamous X/Twitter exchange back in 2021. It consisted of McGregor replying to Sonnen characterizing his behavior as that of a 'rich weirdo,' to which the Irishman's response was to flaunt his wealth.

"Says the little broke weirdo hahahhahaha"

This devolved into the two men trading insults back-and-forth, with Sonnen taking aim at the quality of Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey, while 'The Notorious' mocked the three-time UFC title challenger's YouTube career.
