Gane appears confident ahead of the heavyweight encounter. In the UFC 285 Countdown Episode, 'Bon Gamin' spoke about his movement and speed inside the octagon and stated that he planned to finish 'Bones' to become the new heavyweight king:

“I’ve got really good footwork. I can move very well for any heavyweight, and everybody know that. I’m going to have an advantage because I’m going to be fast. I can’t wait to fight against this guy. I’m going to finish him. Jon Jones, your time is done."

Chael Sonnen criticizes the title fight between Ciryl Gane and Jon Jones

Chael Sonnen is not a big fan of the upcoming title fight between Ciryl Gane and Jon Jones.

'The American Gangster' made an appearance on Ariel Helwani's The MMA Hour. During his time there, Sonnen took a jibe at the UFC heavyweight division and stated that Gane was 1-1 in his last two outings. Speaking about Jones, who will make his heavyweight debut at UFC 285, Sonnen mentioned his inactivity and that 'Bones' has been out of action for three years:

"I don't know if we've had a less deserving heavyweight [title] match in a meaningful period of time. We've got a heavyweight [Francis Ngannou] that we were plagued with that didn't even want to be here... Now, we get a guy that's 1-1 in his last two versus a guy that quit the sport three [years] ago and has never competed in the division... We had the youngest-ever UFC champion who's now the oldest No.1 contender in the UFC. That's just the reality."

Before the title became vacant, it was held by Francis Ngannou, who parted ways with the UFC due to contractual disputes. Ciryl Gane and Jon Jones will be fighting for the vacant title on March 4.
