Chael Sonnen explains how Paddy Pimblett could "weaponize" his massive weight gain like former UFC champion Rich Franklin
Chael Sonnen recently did a deep dive into Paddy Pimblett's astonishing ability to make weight before his fights without seeming worn out.
'The American Gangster' compared Pimblett's ability to that of UFC Hall of Famer and former champion Rich Franklin. He suggested that the Liverpudlian can learn how to "weaponize" his weight swings.
While Pimblett's drastic weight cuts have been a topic of contention among MMA fans for a while now, Sonnen recently offered an alternate point of view, one where 'The Baddy' learns to use his control over his weight as an advantage inside the octagon.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Chael Sonnen referenced former UFC middleweight champion Franklin's skill at extreme weight-cutting, stating:
"Paddy, on Thursday at the press conference, I just didn't see him complaining. I didn't see him dragging around. I go back to Rich Franklin. Rich Franklin was the first guy to ever get notoriety for pulling down the weight. Rich used it... As a weapon. He was able to weaponize it. He weighed in at 185 and got in the ring at 202."

Rich Franklin was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2019 after the former middleweight champion retired with a professional record of 37-29-7 following an illustrious 13-year career. The 48-year-old now serves as a vice-president at ONE Championship.
Chael Sonnen shares his thoughts on the Paddy Pimblett vs. Ariel Helwani dispute
Chael Sonnen was not onboard with Paddy Pimblett's campaign against MMA journalist Ariel Helwani and did not think that the Liverpool native's comments made much sense.
On an episode of the Chattin Pony podcast with Dana White, the 27-year-old lambasted Helwani mercilessly, calling the MMA journalist a "rodent" and a "rat" who profited off interviewing fighters.
Speaking on his YouTube channel recently, Chael Sonnen shared his reaction to the comments made on the controversial podcast episode hosted by Paddy Pimblett:
"There's not a secret there. If you think there is and you think that you just cracked a code and you advertise the code to the world because you're the one that figured it out, you're a little bit stupid."
'The American Gangster' continued:
"It was a very bizarre thing for Paddy 'The Baddy' to say to a promoter who operates purely and solely on that exact premise of having something interesting. It's a star driven business whether you like it or not... I thought it was very bizarre for Paddy 'The Baddy', who operates under that promoter's arm with that exact same premise."
