Chael Sonnen questions if Jake Paul's 50-50 pay-per-view split is a "fair share" for PFL fighters
Chael Sonnen recently shared his thoughts on the PFL's decision to sign Jake Paul.
'The Problem Child' will compete in the Super Fight division, which will see fighters in that division receive 50% earnings from the relevant PPV card they compete on. Paul has campaigned for better fighter pay in MMA for years, with Dana White being the main recipient of the YouTuber's critiques.
Some may feel that Paul's deal is helping the PFL's fighters, but 'The American Gangster' doesn't appear to be one of them. Sonnen recently broke down the deal and how things could possibly unfold, in a recent YouTube video.
Chael Sonnen said this:
"There's traditional five fights on a PPV card. That's 10 athletes, do those 10 athletes evenly divide the 50%? Do we take all 10 that will be showed an treat them equally? Or something more reasonable?"
He added:
"Let's say we just go main event, and it's 50%, is red corner and blue corner splitting that? So they both get 25%. You see where this starts to be a problem... I'm just sharing with you I don't know what it means. Sometimes it can create bigger problems. Is it a fair share to kick in 50%? It seems heavy to me."

Chael Sonnen on whether Alexander Volkanovski beating Islam Makhachev is a massive upset or not
Alexander Volkanovski will take on Islam Makhachev for the UFC lightweight title at UFC 284 in February. 'The Great' is putting his No.1 UFC pound-for-pound spot on the line to try and achieve double-champ status, and faces a formidable opponent in Makhachev.
The Dagestani's grappling prowess has led many to believe he will be too much for Volkanovski to handle. However, Chael Sonnen doesn't believe that a victory for the featherweight champion would be a big upset.
'The American Gangster' recently broke down the matchup on his YouTube channel after a fan asked him if Volkanovski winning the fight would be the upset of the century.
Chael Sonnen said this:
"No, no of course not. Volkanovski is ranked [P4P] number 1 and Islam is ranked number 2. You have to turn to the pound-for-pound list. It's the only list that both guys are on. You wanna talk about their own lists? Okay, Islam is ranked number one as champion and Volkanovski is ranked number one as champion."
