Chael Sonnen reacts to Joe Rogan correcting himself on 'silly' $30 million Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall claim: "I was truly blown away"
Chael Sonnen was surprised to see Joe Rogan make a serious mistake regarding Jon Jones' rumored payout against Tom Aspinall, something he did not expect from an experienced person like Rogan. In addition, Sonnen agreed with the UFC commentator's assessment of Jones' return.
For context, in a past episode of his podcast The Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan claimed that Jones reportedly wanted $30 million for his title unification bout against Aspinall, to which the promotion agreed.
However, after speaking with UFC CEO Dana White last week, the 55-year-old revealed during his conversation with Theo Von that the reports were false.
Rogan said:
''I had heard a rumor that Jon Jones wanted $30 million to fight Tom Aspinall. And I did hear that rumor. And I did hear that the UFC said yes. But that’s not true. Dana contacted me and said that rumor is bullsh*t. So I felt obligated to tell everybody that was a fake rumor… We did that podcast two weeks ago; I don’t remember who told me that.” [H/t: MMA Junkie]
In response to Rogan's remarks, Sonnen posted a video on his YouTube channel, expressing his thoughts on the matter:
''Joe Rogan has put out a correction to a correction to a story that we knew needed corrected. The level of silliness, I was truly blown away by that...But Joe's now has come out and he fixed it.''
Sonnen added:
''Rogan says Jon Jones can come back at anytime...Joe Rogan is right. Jon Jones can walk for now.''

Joe Rogan discusses Jon Jones' return
Jon Jones' future remains uncertain, as he previously hinted at retirement. However, many expect him to face interim champion Tom Aspinall for the title unification bout, which Jones would only contemplate if he received a huge paycheck.
In his aforementioned conversation with Theo Von, Joe Rogan claimed that Jones is free to fight whenever he wants as he is one of the greatest fighters to have ever set foot in the octagon. He said:
''Apparently Jon is thinking about retiring… He should think about it. Give the man all the time he wants. He can fight whenever he wants to fight. That’s Jon Jones – he’s the GOAT. So leave him alone. If he decides one day to come back and he comes back and he wants to fight Tom Aspinall for the heavyweight title … The question is, how long are you allowed to hold onto that title before they start having that conversation?”
