Chael Sonnen reacts to Khamzat Chimaev giving Olympian Razambek Zhamalov a hard time in wrestling

Khamzat Chimaev was recently seen grappling with a 2024 Olympic gold medalist in wrestling and Chael Sonnen is quite enthusiastic about it. Chimaev is preparing for his return to the cage at UFC 308 next weekend in a co-main event clash with former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker.

Championship Rounds posted the footage on X of the two going at it with the caption:

"Khamzat Chimaev wrestling with 2024 Olympic Gold Medalist Razambek Zhamalov #UFC #MMA #UFC308"

This footage came onto the radar of a former multi-division UFC title challenger who showcased high-level wrestling throughout his MMA career. Sonnen retweeted the video, saying:

"This is AWESOME. Send these directly and BadGuyInc will pay you $1000 per."

Khamzat Chimaev and instances he has showcased his wrestling skills in the UFC

Khamzat Chimaev has a well-rounded game as a mixed martial artist but has specifically shown his level in wrestling multiple times. His first two UFC fights illustrated his grappling aptitude, leading to a second-round D'arce choke win and a first-round ground and pound victory against John Phillips and Rhys McKee, respectively.

Chimaev would then have first-round submission victories over Li Jingliang and Kevin Holland at UFC 267 and UFC 279, respectively, which saw him ragdoll both fighters to a cartoonish degree.

'Borz' had his biggest name-value win to date in his last outing and a sizable amount of his performance took place within the grappling dimension. This transpired in October of last year and saw Chimaev earn a majority decision win over the former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman in the UFC 294 co-main event.

Chimaev aims to take out another former UFC champion and could potentially vault toward his first title bid with an emphatic enough victory on Oct. 26.
