Chael Sonnen shares how authorities threatened to pull his license for hilarious "Nogueira Brothers" story

Chael Sonnen is known for his stories that may not always seem true, but provide great humor nonetheless. Arguably the most memorable story the former UFC middleweight and light heavyweight title challenger has told involved the Nogueria brothers and a bus that was reportedly mistaken for a horse.

During a recent appearance on the FLAGRANT podcast, the mixed martial arts analyst discussed the backlash from the interview, stating:

"When that piece was done - that was done in Las Vegas - the executive director at the time tried to pull my license. When he found out that I did that in Nevada, he decided he had jurisdiction over that. He tried to pull my license and I was in the room when he told Lorenzo Fertitta and Dana White, 'kids are going to look up to this guy, and this is not what I want kids to be like.'"

Chael Sonnen defended his comments, adding:

"I used no profanity. I made no threats. I have never used a four letter word. I've been called the greatest s**t talked in all the sport, but I've never used profanity. This guy was going to pull my license because he marked out for the gimmick so much. He thought I was such a bad guy and I was doing such bad things."

Sonnen claimed that while he was simply playing the role of a heel, it was not common at the time. He added that Brazilian fans wanted him dead and when he filmed The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3, he needed a six-man security team everywhere he went in the country.

What did Chael Sonnen say about the Nogueira brothers?

Chael Sonnen was known for making controversial and sometimes outlandish statements during his time as a fighter. Speaking with Ariel Helwani in 2011, the mixed martial arts analyst claimed that he would not have spoken negatively about Brazil online if he knew they had computers in the country.

Sonnen used Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira to drive home his point, stating:

"I was in Las Vegas when the Nogueira brothers first touched down in America. There was a bus that pulled up to a red light, and Little Nog tried to feed it a carrot, while Big Nog was petting it. He thought it was a horse. This really happened. He tried to feed a bus a carrot, and now you're telling me that country has computers? I didn't know that!"

It is unclear why Sonnen chose the Nogueira brothers as the target of his joke as he was never set to face either brother. 'Big Nog' later denied the claims while sharing that he receives questions about the incident every time he shares a picture of his horses.
