Chael Sonnen shares definitive prediction for Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler clash - "There's no such thing as a puncher's chance"

Chael Sonnen has offered his final prediction for the upcoming Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler bout at UFC 303 next month.

McGregor is set to make his highly anticipated return when he faces Chandler to round off International Fight Week PPV on June 29 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

When 'The Notorious' steps back into the octagon, it will mark the end of a near three-year absence, following the leg break he suffered against Dustin Poirier in 2021.

Much has since been made by fans and the media about McGregor's injury and whether or not he'll be even close to his best when he returns. The general consensus is that even if he isn't, he'll always have a "puncher's chance" thanks to his iconic left hand.

According to Chael Sonnen, however, he isn't putting much stock in Conor McGregor walking away victorious.

Speaking in a recent interview with Bloody Elbow, 'The American Gangster' ruled out the Irishman entirely and stated that he expects Chandler to get his hand raised. He said:

"Michael Chandler wins, you have the most disciplined guy in the sport, arguably. You have the most undisciplined guy in the sport for sure...Everybody's going to be lazy like I'm going to be right now and say Conor's got a puncher's chance and if Chandler stands up with him...There's no such things as puncher's chance. The better guy wins, he wins every single time and Michael Chandler could go out there and box with Conor at this point." [H/T MMA News]

Michael Chandler vows to retire Conor McGregor

Michael Chandler recently claimed his UFC 303 bout against Conor McGregor could be the last time fans see the Irishman step into the octagon.

Following the historic UFC 300 card in April, Dana White broke the news that McGregor vs. Chandler was officially happening. The announcement finally put an end to months of speculation and proved that Chandler's patience was the correct decision.

'Iron' was then interviewed by New York Post Sports about the fight and asked to give his breakdown on how he thinks it will play out. According to Chandler, whilst he isn't ruling out 'The Notorious' of pulling off the victory, he expects to dominate him. He said:

''You have to buy this Pay-Per-View because this could be the last time you see Conor McGregor fight. I truly believe what I will do to him on June 29th will warrant and merit him ever stepping back in the octagon. That being said, Conor might be able to pull off the greatest comeback in combat sports history.''
