Charles Oliveira responds to fan's hilarious query about using Google Translate to type out Japanese
Charles Oliveira admitted to using Google Translate in a failed attempt to communicate with a fan of his who speaks Japanese.
Since his UFC debut in 2010, Oliveira has become one of the biggest fan favorites in the Dana White-run promotion. The former lightweight world champion continues to grow his fanbase by remaining humble and connecting with fans by messaging them on social media.
Earlier today, Oliveira re-posted a video on Twitter of an Italian deli making a sandwich featuring hollowed-out bread and meatballs. One fan commented in Japanese asking 'Do Bronx' about his favorite food. The Brazilian lightweight tried to respond in Japanese, which translated to "seems like a good suggestion."
As a result, a different fan responded by asking the following question due to Oliveira's confusing translation:
"Charles did you use google translate for this"
Oliveira candidly answered the fan's question by saying:
"Of course"
Between 2018 and 2022, Charles Oliveira solidified his legacy with an 11-fight win streak that included Kevin Lee, Tony Ferguson, Michael Chandler, Dustin Poirier, and Justin Gaethje. In October 2022, Oliveira attempted to regain the lightweight throne that he lost on the scale but was denied by Islam Makhachev.
What's next for Charles Oliveira under the UFC banner?
Following his loss against Islam Makhachev, Charles Oliveira bounced back with a first-round TKO win against Beneil Dariush. Unfortunately for 'Do Bronx,' he suffered another setback in his latest Octagon appearance due to a split decision defeat against Arman Tsarukyan at UFC 300.
Since then, Oliveira has been surrounded by rumors of potential opponents, including Alexander Volkanovski, Dan Hooker, Mateusz Gamrot, and Benoit Saint-Denis. Earlier today, Hooker attempted to shut down reports of him fighting Saint-Denis by posting the following message on Twitter:
"You can officially kiss my a*s I'm fighting Charlie olives"
Dan Hooker last fought in July 2023, defeating Jalin Turner by split decision for his second consecutive win. Hooker has recently been vocal about wanting to fight on August 17 at UFC 305, which goes down in Perth, Australia.
Hooker would have a massive opportunity in a potential matchup against Oliveira, as 'Hangman' is the number 11-ranked UFC lightweight, while 'Do Bronx' holds the more-recognized number three position.
