Chatri Sityodtong thrilled to see Tawanchai run it back with Jo Nattawut at ONE 167 on June 7
ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong sees an explosive contest between Thai fighters Tawanchai PK Saenchai and Jo Nattawut in their rematch next week in Bangkok, Thailand. The PK Saenchai Muay Thai Gym standout will stake his ONE featherweight Muay Thai title in the headlining contest at ONE 167 at the Impact Arena on June 7 against 'Smokin' Jo. It is a redo of their tightly fought kickboxing showdown back in October.
Speaking on Uprtalk with Antoine Pinto on YouTube, Sityodtong shared his take on the upcoming title clash, citing how the first encounter between the two fighters was portent of what to expect come fight night.
The ONE executive said:
"Tawanchai and Jo Nattawut fought in kickboxing last year and it was a very close match. Tawanchai is eager to defend his belt, but Jo Nattawut's style is hard to predict. In the first fight it looked like he was constantly throwing weapons at random, but all of them looked sharp and seemed to have packed a punch."
Watch the interview below:
Tawanchai will be making the third defense of the world title he seized in September 2022. He retained the belt in his last fight in December in his all-Thai superstar clash against Superbon by majority decision.
Nattawut, for his part, was also a winner in his previous featherweight Muay Thai match in December over American Luke Lessei.
ONE 167 will air live and for free in U.S. primetime to North American fans with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.
Tawanchai says he is ready for Jo Nattawut at ONE 167
Tawanchai PK Saenchai said he is ready to run it back against Jo Nattawut at ONE 167 on June 7 in Bangkok, Thailand.
After being made to dig deep in their first encounter before winning by decision, the 25-year-old Pattaya native said he is all set, both body and mind, to plunge back into action, more so since it will be for his ONE featherweight Muay Thai world title.
He shared to ONE Championship in an interview:
"I have foucused on building a strong body, and as for the brain, I am already smart enough, so I will adapt in the ring."
The two faced off back in October at ONE Fight Night 15 in a kickboxing clash, where Nattawut proved to be a handful for Tawanchai in their three-round barnburner.
