Chuck Liddell makes bold claim about hypothetical fight against Jon Jones: "I would've been a bad matchup"

Chuck Liddell recently weighed in on how he believes he would match up against Jon Jones and claimed that he would be a difficult opponent for 'Bones'. He explained where he would have advantages and how he could get his hand raised.

'The Iceman' was undoubtedly one of the top fighters in the world during his prime and achieved a great deal of success in the UFC. The former light heavyweight champion defeated a who's who of legends including Wanderlei Silva, Tito Ortiz and Randy Couture. Even though Jones fought many MMA legends, Liddell was on the downside of his career when he began surging the rankings, and so a bout never came to fruition.

During his latest appearance on Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson's JAXXON PODCAST, the UFC Hall of Famer discussed a hypothetical bout against 'Bones'. Liddell mentioned that he would have given Jones trouble with his takedown defense and forced the bout on the feet, where he believes he would have had an advantage:

"That's why I always said I would've been a bad matchup for [Jones] cause I'm probably one of the few guys where he would have a hard time dictating where I fought him. You know, I would've fought him. He would've had to fight me standing up, he couldn't outwrestle me. He couldn't take me down...He wouldn't have been able to take me down. He would've had to strike with me." [33:35]

Chuck Liddell highlights mistake Khalil Rountree Jr. made against Alex Pereira

In addition to sharing his thoughts on a hypothetical bout against Jon Jones, Chuck Liddell highlighted a mistake he believes Khalil Rountree Jr. made against Alex Pereira.

During the aforementioned episode, 'The Iceman' noted that Rountree made Pereira get comfortable knowing that the fight was going to be contested on the feet. Liddell used his win over Alistair Overeem as an example and mentioned that Rountree should have secured a takedown and gained points and then moved to a more stand-up heavy offense:

"If you're going out there and you're gonna fight a guy like Alex [Pereira], is so comfortable striking, you can't let him get comfortable. Like, when I fought [Alistair] Overeem, all you ever see is that short bit where I caught him and then finishing the fight...But what I did when I went out right away was I took him down and I hit him a few times."
