Chuck Norris reacts to video of Jon Jones squatting a staggering 525 pounds
Hollywood star Chuck Norris took a liking to a video posted by Jon Jones on Instagram. He recently commented on Jones' post, where the UFC heavyweight champion is seen squatting 525 pounds.
Norris lauded the power of the UFC star and hoped to see the champion return to action:
"Looking strong, my friend. Can’t wait to see you back in the Octagon!"
Norris is a lifelong martial artist who won and defended multiple championships in karate from the time he was discharged from the U.S. Air Force in 1967 until his first Hollywood movie in 1968.
Originally trained in Tang Soo Do, Norris later opened several karate schools in North America and even founded his own martial art, Chun Kuk Do. His zeal for training and dedication to the martial arts led the American to take on Bruce Lee in one of the most memorable action scenes in movie history.
Jon Jones could return to action as soon as November
In the above post, Jones mentioned that he will return to the Octagon in 18 weeks and three days to headline UFC 306 at Madison Square Garden in November:
"I got 18 weeks and three days to improve, and that’s exactly what I’m going to do."
In another post, 'Bones' claimed that the main event at MSG in New York City would be his, as he wrote in the caption:
"The red corner, my office. #Nov9th"
In the comments of the same post, Jones was asked to name a date and claim a fight, to which he wrote:
“November 9th Madison Square Garden, I know it seems like a dream but it’s really happening.”
So far, there is no official confirmation of the dates or the fighters on the cards. For the past few years, New York has been the preferred location for the UFC after the annual visit to Abu Dhabi. Thus, if this year's schedule remains unchanged, UFC 309 should be the card that takes place in November at the "most famous arena in the world."
Jon Jones was scheduled to fight Stipe Miocic on the UFC's last visit to the Big Apple, but had to pull out due to an unfortunate chest injury. 'Bones' has not had a fight materialize since his debut in the heavyweight class in March of 2023, and as a result, the champion has been accused of stifling the division's growth.
