Claressa Shields believes Jake Paul doesn't have the skills to go toe-to-toe with her in a boxing match
Boxing star Claressa Shields has weighed in on how a potential clash between her and Jake Paul would go. According to the Olympic gold medalist, 'The Problem Child' would not fare well against her inside the squared circle.
Shields recently did a brief interview with TMZ Sports, where she admitted that Paul brought more eyeballs to boxing and hoped that that other fighters could benefit from it in the long term.
She then shared that 'The Problem Child' did not possess the skillset required to compete against athletes like her or any top-10 male fighter at 154 pounds or above.
"He's bringing more eyes to the sport and that's what you need. And hopefully, everybody who's involved in that side can keep building from that and also create a real blueprint to where it can be used for generations to come... I don't think Jake Paul has the skills to get inside the ring with me or any of the guys that are at 154 pounds or up who is ranked in the rankings. I'm not gonna lie to you. 1 to 10. I don't think he could pick a guy 1 to 10 in any of the rankings, any of the weight classes and beat them."
Paul recently competed in a highly anticipated clash against Mike Tyson on Nov. 15. The matchup was a professional bout consisting of eight two-minute rounds and took place at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
The event was broadcast by streaming giant Netflix across the world. In the lead-up, Paul received a lot of backlash for the fight due to the age gap between him (27) and Tyson (58).
The fight went the distance and ended with a unanimous decision victory for 'The Problem Child'. The three judges scored the bout 80-72, 79-73 and 79-73 in favor of the YouTuber-turned-boxer.
