Coach Henry Cejudo claims Jon Jones has rekindled his fire for competing, making him more dangerous than ever

Henry Cejudo has suggested that Jon Jones has rekindled his fire to compete in MMA. 'Triple C' seemingly believes that Jones is now the most dangerous he's ever been.

After a three-year MMA hiatus, former UFC light heavyweight champion Jones is set to return and debut in the heavyweight division. 'Bones' will face former interim UFC heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane for the vacant undisputed UFC heavyweight title at UFC 285 on March 4, 2023.

Jon Jones has been trained by longtime head coach Greg Jackson (of the Jackson Wink MMA Academy) and Henry Cejudo (of the Fight Ready gym) for the Ciryl Gane matchup.

In a video posted to his official YouTube channel, former two-division UFC champion Cejudo picked his student Jones to finish Gane within three rounds. 'Triple C' stated:

"I've been able to see and watch this man [Jones] for the last year or so and be able to see him as a student once again, rekindling that love. The dude's prepared more than you guys will ever think or know because there's something that makes Jon Jones extremely dangerous -- it's when you have that fire once again; when you have a big opposition, a big challenge in a guy like Ciryl Gane, to be able to call yourself the heavyweight champion of the world."
"I think his heart's in there, his mind's in there; I think his technique. And I think the biggest thing is; it's just the wrestling aspect."

Francis Ngannou found himself down on the scorecards but turned to his wrestling and dug deep to beat Cyril Gane 🏆

Henry Cejudo harked back to Ciryl Gane getting out-wrestled and defeated by Francis Ngannou in their UFC heavyweight title unification matchup in January 2022. He insinuated that if Ngannou, who's primarily a striker, can out-wrestle Gane, 'Bones' surely can.

Additionally, Cejudo opined that Jones has several weapons, including a wide variety of kicks and long-range attacks, which most other fighters don't possess. Highlighting Jones' versatility, his elite wrestling skills, and Gane's purportedly inferior wrestling, Cejudo reiterated that 'Bones' would stop 'Bon Gamin' and win the heavyweight belt.

Jon Jones on whether beating Ciryl Gane should earn him the No. 1 pound-for-pound UFC ranking

In a recent interview with Fox Sports Australia, the UFC's former pound-for-pound kingpin Jon Jones addressed whether or not a victory over Ciryl Gane would make him deserving of the No. 1 pound-for-pound spot once again. Jones, who's currently ranked No. 10 on the list, lauded fighters like reigning pound-for-pound king Alexander Volkanovski and the No. 2-ranked Islam Makhachev.

Jon Jones indicated that active fighters like Volkanovski and Makhachev deserve their spots in the pound-for-pound rankings, as he hasn't been active enough in recent years. That said, 'Bones' emphasized that he's trying to be the best fighter of all time. Jones said:

"I think Alex, Islam, these are the guys who have been fighting. I haven't been competing, they deserve to be the top fighters on the planet... I'm trying to fight to be the best fighter ever, that's two different things."
