Colby Covington hints at possibility of Jon Jones on-stage collision at UFC 290
Jon Jones' heavyweight debut went about as perfectly as he could have imagined as he was able to claim the vacant title at UFC 285.
'Bones' will reportedly defend his heavyweight throne at UFC 290 during International Fight Week, and Colby Covington is looking to get on the card.
Speaking to Submission Radio, the No.2-ranked welterweight stated:
"Who doesn't want to see me on stage with Jon Jones? Man, do you know how electric that would be on the mic? Let's go... That situation looks like a head-on collision and it looks like some 'Chaos' mixed with some coke Jones and I think it goes for an entertaining press conference. It's what the people want. The people want to see this. They want to be entertained."
Covington added:
"This is the entertainment business. This is not a sport. This is not a game. This is a business. We're here to make money. We're here to make money for the UFC and do good business so this is the entertainment business and there's a reason I'm on the big docket and the main event pay-per-views every single time because everybody knows what type of business I do."

While UFC President Dana White has suggested that Covington could be next in line for a title shot, welterweight champion Leon Edwards shared that he won't sign the contract if it is offered to him. 'Rocky' asserted that 'Chaos' does not deserve a title opportunity due to his inactivity. It is unclear if his stance will change ahead of UFC 290.
Jon Jones' heavyweight debut cemented his status as the 'Baddest Man on the Planet,' claims heavy contender
Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou appeared set to clash for the heavyweight throne prior to the latter's departure from the UFC.
Jairzinho Rozenstruik, who faced the former heavyweight champion in 2020, recently claimed that 'Bones' is the 'Baddest Man on the Planet' as he is the one holding the title.
Speaking to The Schmo, the No.9-ranked heavyweight stated:
"The 'Baddest Man' has the strap on his waist and that's Jon Jones. As long as you don't have the strap on your waist, we don't talk about you anymore because who's got the strap, that's the person we chase."

Rozenstruik faced Ngannou at UFC 249 with a heavyweight title opportunity on the line. 'The Predator' needed just 20 seconds to knock out his opponent and hand him his first career loss, claiming the heavyweight throne in his next bout.
'Bigi Boy' is just 3-3 in six fights since the matchup. However, he noted that he is looking to work his way back into title contention.
