Colby Covington rants about why Jon Jones doesn't "deserve" to win against Stipe Miocic: "He has beaten his wife"
Colby Covington recently went off on a tirade explaining why he believes Jon Jones doesn’t deserve to win against Stipe Miocic at UFC 309. 'Bones' is set to put his heavyweight title on the line against Miocic in the headliner of UFC’s penultimate pay-per-view of 2024, scheduled for Nov. 16 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
During an interview with Submission Radio, Covington was asked to give his take on the upcoming Jones vs. Miocic clash. 'Chaos' expressed confidence that the former heavyweight champion should come out on top. Covington didn’t hold back in criticizing Jones and referenced his checkered past as a reason he didn’t believe Jones should win:
"I'm really rooting for a real American, a guy that has morals and values, something that Jon lacks. He has no morals and values; he's a terrible person. He's beaten his wife, he's had multiple drug challenges, terrible steroid charges, so he's not a good person. He doesn't deserve to win, so I'm rooting for Stipe, and I hope he gets it done."

Covington has long been a vocal critic of 'Bones', despite the two once sharing a close friendship and even being roommates during their time at Central Iowa Community College.
However, the bond between Jones and Covington has since soured, with 'Chaos' repeatedly dismissing any claims that the former UFC light heavyweight champion deserves to be called the greatest fighter of all time.
When Colby Covington claimed Jon Jones asked UFC not to pair them on same card
Jon Jones was originally scheduled to headline UFC 295 in November 2023 at Madison Square Garden against Stipe Miocic. Meanwhile, Colby Covington, who was lined up to challenge then-welterweight champion Leon Edwards, expressed interest in securing his title fight on the same card.
During an interview with Michael Bisping in August 2023, 'Chaos' alleged that Jones had requested the UFC not to book them on the same card:
"Is Jon Jones going to be willing to share a card with his former college roommate who knows all his dirty secrets, all the dirty skeletons in his closet? I bet that he’s going over to the UFC right now, and he’s telling them, ‘Yo, I’m not sharing a card with Colby. I will refuse to fight here.'"
Covington added:
"A little birdie told me, Michael, that he went backstage with the suits and the big dogs of the UFC and said, hey, he refuses to share a card with me. So, they’re gonna give him what he wants. They don’t want to ruin their New York show."

However, neither Jones nor Covington ended up competing at UFC 295. 'Bones' was forced to withdraw due to a torn pectoral muscle, while the former interim champion was instead scheduled to face Edwards at UFC 296, where he ultimately suffered a loss.
