Colby Covington sounds off on 'media head' Daniel Cormier: "He's never been the A-side"
Colby Covington recently sounded off on Daniel Cormier after he was critical of his decision not to fight Ian Garry. The UFC Hall of Famer had noted that he believed it wouldn't be a good look for the former interim welterweight champion had he not accepted the fight because of how personal their feud got.
'Chaos' has been sidelined due to an injury he sustained during his unanimous decision loss to Leon Edwards at UFC 296 this past December. Since then, he had been involved in a social media feud with 'The Future', but the fight didn't materialize and the Irishman was instead booked to fight against Michael 'Venom' Page.
Championship Rounds recently tweeted a clip from 'Chaos' appearance on SOSCAST, where he aimed the former two-division UFC champion. Covington mentioned that he calls the shots in terms of his career and took a jibe at Cormier's star power when he was an active competitor. He said:
"I love Daniel Cormeir as well, he's a friend of mine. But everybody knows he's a media head now so he'll do anything to get some clickbait...Daniel doesn't know what he's talking about, he's never been the A-side so he doesn't know what it's like to call his shots and wait for the right opportunities. The biggest thing is I gotta get healthy...I'm already a superstar and I've made so much money I don't need to fight ever again."

Colby Covington says he will seek the biggest fights possible
Despite their social media feud, Colby Covington wasn't in favor of fighting Ian Garry because he doesn't believe he is a big enough star in the division.
'Chaos' has recently expressed interest in fighting the likes of Charles Oliveira and refuted the idea of fighting surging contenders who aren't big names. During the aforementioned clip, Covington mentioned that he would return when he feels ready to do so and took a jibe at Garry's recent win over Geoff Neal. He said:
"I'll fight when I'm ready to fight, when I'm healthy. And I want big fights, this kid's [Garry] a nobody, he just got a split decision over twelfth ranked kid. I've been fighting world champion after world champion for the last seven years straight, so why does this kid deserve to fight me? He's literally the B-side and he thinks he calls the shots and is the A-side."
