Dana White apologizes to a fighter following a controversial decision loss at UFC 310
In a back-and-forth heavyweight fight at UFC 310 between Alexander Volkov and Ciryl Gane, the bout went to the judges. It was clear that Gane won the first round and Volkov took the third. The controversy stemmed from the second round, which many believed Volkov had won, but it was scored in favor of 'Bon Gamin.' The decision left many fans, as well as UFC CEO Dana White, shocked.
In the post-fight press conference, White revealed what he said to Volkov following his controversial split-decision loss and shared his thoughts on the fight, saying:
"Here’s what happened after that fight. You heard the boos, I went over to Volkov, I apologized to him, I thought he won the fight. And the head of the commission came over and said, ‘Listen, we think that second round was really close and could have gone either ways. Both guys got rocked. They were making the argument on why the fight was judged the way it was.”
