Confident Johan Ghazali high on statement-making victory at ONE 168: “I can do anything I want”
After making a statement in The Mile High City, Johan Ghazali believes there's nothing he can't do.
'Jojo' climbed back into the win column at ONE 168: Denver earlier this month, scoring a buzzer-beating knockout in the opening round against Mexican slugger Josue Cruz.
Shortly after securing his sixth career win under the ONE Championship banner, Ghazali was feeling pretty good about himself while addressing members of the media during the post-fight press conference.
"In my mind, I can do anything I want. If I stop now and decide if I want to be a rocket scientist, I could. That's just the mindset I have. So I mean, if you guys think I'm lying, you can ask my mom, I can get her down here. She can tell you that."
He added:
"I've been saying these kind of things since I was small. So, yeah, you know as you said, when the critics want to tell shit about me? Who cares? I have me."
Johan Ghazali wants to throw hands with Denis Puric
What's next for Johan Ghazali remains to be seen, but if the 17-year-old phenom gets his wish, he'll test himself against one of the heaviest hitters in the art of eight limbs—Denis Puric.
"I know he's a good fighter. I know he won't run. He's strong. He's been in the game for quite some time. And, yeah, I'm sure it'll be a good fight. You know, future versus past-past. Old man, Denis Puric, you know, I'm coming for him, and I get it."
With Puric on the cusp of a ONE flyweight Muay Thai world title shot against 'The Iron Man' Rodtang Jitmuangnon, it's hard to imagine 'The Bosnian Menace' will take a break from his title aspirations to scrap with the young gun.
But if 'Jojo' goes out and wins a few more as he did in The Centennial State, Puric won't be able to deny him the opportunity.
