Belal Muhammad looks to make a push for the title in 2023
Following his TKO win over Sean Brady at UFC 280, Belal Muhammad has been calling for a title shot. After linking up with Khabib Nurmagomedov and the rest of the camp at AKA, Belal has taken his MMA game to the next level, and is confident in his abilities. The Welterweight Division looks forward to Usman vs. Edwards 3 at UFC 286
Despite a host of contenders like Belal calling for a title shot, the welterweight division must first look to the impending rematch between Leon "Rocky" Edwards, and Kamaru "The Nigerian Nightmare" Usman, scheduled for UFC 286 in London, England.
As a result, contenders like Burns and Muhammad will likely have to wait and watch, as the outcome of UFC 286 will dictate the direction in which the division is likely to move in.
In the meantime, the welterweight division, one of the UFC's premier divisions, does present some tantalizing matchups. Featuring some of the sports biggest stars, it remains to be seen what the BMF Jorge Masvidal will do. Furthermore, one of MMA's fastest growing stars, Khamzat Chimaev, will also look to stamp his authority on the division. Colby Covington, who has been absent from the octagon for a long time, is also expected to make a comeback.
The potential matchups at welterweight are exciting, and the division boasts immense potential for 2023.
