Conor McGregor confirms he isn't returning to UFC in 2024, shows interest in bare-knuckle fighting: "Spoken to Sheikh Turki about it"
Conor McGregor has given an update regarding his fighting future. The Irishman was in attendance for the Anthony Joshua vs. Daniel Dubois boxing event that took place on Sept. 21 at Wembley Stadium in London, England.
During his time there, McGregor had a brief chat with journalist Ariel Helwani, where he said that he aimed to return to action in 2025 and would be fully prepared for his highly anticipated comeback fight.
"It'll be 2025... You know, we'll see. My opponent that I was scheduled, [Michael] Chandler, has got matched... My job is to go to the gym, be in the gym, be in shape. One thing is for sure, whenever it is and wherever it is, I will be 100% ready. And that's all I can focus on right now."
When asked about his plans after potentially ending his contract with the UFC, McGregor said that he had little clue himself about his future as a free agent. 'The Notorious' then expressed interest in fighting a bare-knuckle boxing match and said that he had been talking to Turki Alalshikh about it.
"I don't even know. I don't think no one in the space knows. I'm the highest generating fighter on planet earth right now in today's space. What happens after, as I'm a free agent, I'm not so sure. But one thing I do know, I'm very excited that we have partnered Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship with DAZN... I've spoken to Sheikh Turki [Alalshikh] about it, potential matchups for my own self, a lot of exciting things going on."
