UFC News: Conor McGregor tells fellow UFC fighters to stop 'crying and moaning'
The new ownership of the UFC is lacking the knack of satisfying its employees’ appetites.
Fighters such as Mark Hunt, Jose Aldo, Georges St-Pierre, Khabib Nurmagomedov and Anderson Silva have broken their silence and voiced their displeasure towards the company. But the money man of UFC, Conor McGregor has some pieces of advice for his UFC colleagues.
The Mystic Mac has talked his way into being one of the highest-paid athletes in the world. In an interview with Sports Illustrated, he opined on the current scenario with the displeased fighters and gave them a bit of advice:
“Tell me one time that crying and moaning; tell me one time that’s good for progression. It’s not,” he told SI. “Where would you be if I wasn’t here? Be grateful that you’re even in the conversation.”
The Notorious one spoke especially in reference to his former foe Jose Aldo who has been expressing his frustration for months after not receiving a rematch against McGregor. He was quoted as saying:
“Keep your head down, keep working, stay focused, stay positive, that’s the way to go forward. Not crying, moaning, complaining. I can’t engage in that. I wish them well, but I’m on something different there.”
On the contrary, the UFC had granted #1 contender Khabib Nurmagomedov a much-deserved title shot against UFC Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez but the plan was scratched off, and McGregor was gifted with the opportunity of facing the lightweight champ at UFC 205 instead.
Unhappy with the unfair treatment, Nurmagomedov has since threatened to never fight in the UFC again. He was later given a relatively smaller shot at glory, after being scheduled to fight Michael Johnson on the very same card at Madison Square Garden. His title shot demand still stands
McGregor on the other side is on his way to create history by attempting to be the first fighter to hold two UFC belts simultaneously, a feat that he has achieved before in CWFC.
