Conor McGregor dangerous driving incident: Irishman hit with two-year driving ban, narrowly avoids jail
Conor McGregor will not be locked up behind bars but will receive a multi-year ban from driving following a dangerous incident on the road. The incident in question occurred in 2022 with McGregor being arrested as well as having his car seized in March of that year.
The former UFC featherweight and UFC lightweight champion was involved in dangerous driving in Ireland as he sped through traffic after running a red light which nearly resulted in a collision.
Reports from The Irish Mirror stated that McGregor has now smoothed things out with authorities. Beyond a two-year driving ban, 'The Notorious' will have a five-month suspended sentence on the pretense he pays a five thousand fine then keeps the peace or two years thereafter. McGregor also had a six-month driving ban with a one thousand dollar speeding fine back in 2018.
This showed a broader trend of behavior which per the referenced report caused overseeing judge David McHugh to look at a prison sentence at first. This was for what he described as noteworthy prior convictions and an appalling series of breaches of road traffic rules.

Conor McGregor and further specifics of this incident
Conor McGregor has shown himself to be a wild individual who has had multiple run-ins with the law and this came across in the referenced dangerous driving episode. Reports state that the officer on scene for this instance had to drive at speeds of 100 miles an hour to get the former champ-champ to pull over.
McGregor was said to have eventually stepped outside of his Bentley Continental GT convertible, after reportedly being asked at least six times to get out, in a state of disbelief and was said to have asked the officer:
"Are you taking the p***?"
The 36-year-old did this at the N4/M50 interchange in Palmerston with the West Dublin-based events taking place on March 22 two years ago. McGregor has a dozen prior traffic offenses which the court found out and was referenced by the judge earlier in the piece.
The brash partial owner of BKFC mentioned outside of the courtroom that he had to drive safer and slow down going forward once the ban gets lifted.
The Dublin native has not fought in over three years since his UFC 264 leg break. Although there are rumblings McGregor's scrapped UFC 303 fight with Michael Chandler in June could be re-booked this calendar year.
