Conor McGregor discloses betting plans and prediction for UFC 285 main event

Conor McGregor plans on betting on a Jon Jones victory in UFC 285's main event.

Jon Jones returns to the octagon this weekend to face Ciryl Gane for the vacant heavyweight title. The bout marks the end of Jones' three-year hiatus from the octagon and will also feature his first run-out in the 265-pound division.

With many MMA fans and personalities casting their predictions for the heavyweight clash, US rapper Drake has backed Jones to come away victorious. The Canadian superstar, who is infamous amongst the MMA community for his 'cursed' picks, has put down a $250,000 bet on Jones to win via KO. Furthermore, he has wagered $250,000 on a 'Bones' submission win.

The 36-year-old stands to win a decent amount should any one of his bets come through:

Eddie Alvarez casts his prediction for Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler

Former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez has given his prediction for Conor McGregor's upcoming bout against Michael Chandler.

Alvarez, who has faced both McGregor and Chandler in the cage, recently signed with BKFC after being linked with the PFL. 'The Underground King' appeared on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani to discuss the move before he was asked about his prediction for McGregor vs. Chandler.

According to Alvarez, 'Iron' must use his wrestling if he wants to defeat 'The Notorious'. The 39-year-old stated that Chandler wouldn't make it to the end of the fight if he attempts to stay striking with somebody as accurate as McGregor:

"If I had to guess [a winner], Mike Chandler doesn't wrestle. If he stands with Conor, Conor's gonna knock him out. It's a mismatch because Mike Chandler's defense sucks, he doesn't have good boxing defense. He throws bombs, but Conor's way too fast and way too quick to get hit with anything Mike Chandler throws. I feel like Mike should wrestle and wrestle quickly and use that, and if he doesn't, it's gonna be a bad night for him."
