Conor McGregor drags Khabib Nurmagomedov's criticism of Emmanuel Macron into his attack on "fake lying rats"

Conor McGregor's feud with Khabib Nurmagomedov seems unlikely to end as the former takes shots at the latter at every opportunity possible. 'The Notorious' once again targeted 'The Eagle' on Tuesday, in a pair of since-deleted tweets, over old comments from his long-time rival, which criticized French President Emmanuel Macron.

Nurmagomedov took to Instagram following Macron's criticism of Islam, stating:

"May the Almighty disfigure the face of this creature and all its followers, who, under the slogan of freedom of speech, offend the feelings of more than one and a half billion Muslim believers. May the Almighty humiliate them in this life, and in the next. Allah is quick in calculation and you will see it."
"We are Muslims, we love our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) more than our mothers, fathers, children, wives and all other people close to our hearts. Believe me, these provocations will come back to them, the end is always for the God fearing."

McGregor reshared the post to X, adding:

"#Conorwasright #payyourtaxes #deadrats"

He followed that up by targeting Nurmagomedov following a terrorist attack in Dagestan which Gadzhimurad Kagirov, a mixed martial artist who reportedly briefly trained at his gym, participated in, stating:

"FAKE LYING RATS! Rest in Piss!"

Conor McGregor recently targeted Khabib Nurmagomedov over alleged tax fraud

Conor McGregor has continued to target Khabib Nurmagomedov since suffering a fourth-round submission loss when they clashed for the lightweight title at UFC 229 back in 2018. While the latter walked away from mixed martial arts in 2020 following his father's death, his long-time rival has continued to express interest in a rematch.

'The Notorious' recently claimed that 'The Eagle's alleged tax fraud will bring him back to the UFC while speaking on Duelbits, stating:

"That's typical rat behavior. Scurrying rat so he has bills to [pay]. Fight for legacy? Two main events or something he has in the UFC and he owes his bollocks to the Russian government. So, he's going to pay his f**king money that he owes instead of siphoning it out through to other countries. So, I'm ecstatic and delighted that that's coming on top of him and we all will welcome him back into the fight game where he's ran from. It's a rat trap."

Despite McGregor's claims that the alleged tax fraud issues will lead him back to the UFC, Nurmagomedov has not teased a return to mixed martial arts. The two fighters headlined the biggest pay-per-view event in the history of the sport when they clashed in 2018.
