Conor McGregor draws inspiration from Steve Jobs while discussing introduction of Proper Twelve variant
It's safe to say that irish MMA icon and former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor is a trailblazer of our time. 'The Notorious' not only helped bring the sport further into the mainstream consciousness, he also changed the game as far as self-promotion and marketing.
Another trailblazer who did a similar shift in his overall industry was the late Apple founder, Steve Jobs.
Jobs changed the tech industry and, further, the music business, with the release of his Apple products. One could say that McGregor is the Steve Jobs of MMA, as the Irishman's arrival signaled a new era in the sport and overall athlete marketing as well.
McGregor also expanded out of fighting, trying out new ventures such as his whiskey brand, Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey, and his award-winning pub, the Black Forge Inn.
In a recent Instagram Story, Conor McGregor channeled the late tech giant in a photoshoot that echoes the Apple founder's iconic look and trademark pose. He did so while launching a new "Irish Apple" variant of Proper No. 12:
"Launching @properwhiskey 🍏 as 'Steve McJobs'"

Among McGregor's recent wins outside the Octagon, the Irishman's local Dublin Pub, the Black Forge Inn, won "Best Bar Food" at the Bar of the Year Awards for 2024. This is quite the feather in McGregor's cap as the local pub is his first venture into the food and restaurant business.
The Irish MMA star posted about the win on Instagram, writing:
"YES!!! Our @theblackforgeinn has just won GOLD for best food at the @baroftheyear_ awards! I am so beyond incredibly proud of our culinary team and the entire team who are all instrumental in making this dream win a reality for us!
