Conor McGregor gives one-word reaction to Turki Alalshikh being named WBC's Influential Man Of The Year

Conor McGregor is full of praise to Turki Alalshikh being named WBC's Influential Man Of The Year on Instagram for his contributions to boxing ever since his emergence in the sport. The Saudi Minister is the current chairman of the country's General Entertainment Authority.

Under his leadership, the GEA has spearheaded an explosion of sports and entertainment in Saudi Arabia. While he has his hand dipped in numerous sports, boxing is the best example of his work, as he has managed to organize several big matchups that would have otherwise not taken place.

Bouts like Francis Ngannou's boxing excursion and the notoriously tough negotiator Tyson Fury finally facing Oleksandr Usyk all took place under his guidance. For this, McGregor has also sang his praises, popping up in the comment of the Instagram post with the following reaction:

"LEGENDARY!"

The former UFC two-division champion is no stranger to boxing, having once faced the great Floyd Mayweather Jr. in one of the most anticipated boxing matches of the decade. Unfortunately for the Irishman, he was on the receiving end of a 10th round TKO after tiring massively.

He has since had a spotty run in the UFC, failing to reach the championship level of success that had previously been synonymous with his MMA career. He was most recently booked to take on lightweight action-fighter Michael Chandler at UFC 303 before withdrawing from the bout due to a toe injury.

It would have been his first fight since a 2021 TKO loss to Dustin Poirier, which saw the Irishman snap his shin. Regrettably, he has found himself embroiled in legal trouble, being found liable for assaulting Nikita Hand in a civil case in Ireland, which has led to significant consequences.

Conor McGregor previously called on Turki Alalshikh's aid with the UFC

As a part-owner of the BKFC, Conor McGregor makes routine appearances at BKFC events, and also takes part in press conference. At the BKFC 66 post-fight press conference, he used the platform to air out his grievances with the UFC over not receiving a fight date, and even implored Turki Alalshikh to lend him some aid.

"I've been tested more than twice [than] all these other athletes, yet I struggle to get a date. So, you know, I've talked to Sheik Turki [Alalshikh] and said, 'Sheik Turki, can you assist me here?'"

Unfortunately, McGregor will continue awaiting his next fight date, which is expected to take place in late 2025 depending on how his legal troubles go.
