Conor McGregor gives three-word reaction as training partner gets honest about Irishman's mindset for UFC return
Conor McGregor remains shrouded in uncertainty regarding his UFC return, but a recent statement from his training partner, Brendan Loughnane, has shed some light on the Irishman's mindset.
Loughnane, a successful PFL fighter, appeared on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani to discuss his upcoming fight. The conversation inevitably turned to McGregor's highly anticipated return. The PFL featherweight emphasized McGregor's unwavering fighting spirit and said:
“Of course he wants to fight. This is all he [wants]. Money doesn't matter to Conor [McGregor]. Conor is an out and out scrapper. Just wants to fight. I was in the training room with him, training every day, fighting each other. This guy is hungry for it. He does not have to do this now, he is touching billionaire status. Like he is doing this out of the love of the sport. The guy loves it through and through.”
McGregor himself seemingly confirmed this sentiment. Responding to a post on MMA Fighting's Instagram reporting Loughnane's comments, McGregor wrote:
“REAL RECOGNISE REAL!”

Dustin Poirier questions the severity of Conor McGregor's injury after UFC 303 withdrawal
Dustin Poirier recently questioned the Irishman's withdrawal from UFC 303 due to a pinky toe injury.
McGregor, sidelined since breaking his leg at UFC 264 in their 2021 fight, was expected to return against Michael Chandler last month. However, he pulled out, citing the toe injury.
Speaking on The MMA Hour, Poirier acknowledged the possibility of a more serious undisclosed injury:
"Dude, a pinky toe? It's like, I've fought with so much injuries. Like Conor said he's fought with a lot of injuries he doesn't want to - I've fought with a lot of injuries over the years, but a pinky toe doesn't seem like a reason to pull out of a fight, you know? But also I don't know - like giving him his respect, I also don't know the severity of it."
He added:
"Did he damage ligaments? Is it his muscle in his foot? You know, there's a lot of stuff going on inside of a foot. There's a lot of small bones so I don't know. If it's just a pinky toe, I think that's kind of, you know, not a reason to pull out of a fight."
