Conor McGregor gives his two cents on East Wall protests in Ireland after being held accountable by fans

UFC superstar Conor McGregor, who recently teased his intentions to run for the Irish presidential office, was put on the spot by a fan on Twitter, who asked how the political aspirant would solve the East Wall refugee housing issue.

According to a report by the Irish Mirror, in a now-deleted tweet, Conor McGregor was quoted as saying that he wholeheartedly stood with the people of East Wall:

"I stand with the people of East Wall. And no I do not want to be a politician. Just that they have to answer to me."

Residents of the East Wall have taken to the streets opposing the way in which 380 asylum seekers, including men, women, and children, have been housed in the ESB building in Dublin's inner-city area.

One of the main goals of the protestors is to provide better living conditions for the Ukrainian refugees. However, far-right elements wanting to deport all the refugees have also been identified among the protesters.

Last Friday, dozens of residents took to the streets, causing motor blockades across the East Wall road. In an interview with the Irish Mirror, East Wall committee spokesperson Nigel Murphy said:

“Our protests have nothing to do about not wanting asylum seekers in our area, it's about treating them suitably and giving them accommodation which is suitable. So many of the asylum seekers are well-qualified people and have a lot to offer our country. They deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.”

Conor McGregor states his excitement for Power Slap League

UFC megastar Conor McGregor seems to be a big supporter of Dana White's new endeavor, "Power Slap League." The UFC president's new venture has received approval from the Nevada State Athletic Commission, who will oversee the unique action.

"This power slap championships is growing on me. Who doesn’t like watching good quality clatters hahaha"

He further queried:

"Is it a flip of a coin who gets to go first? How long do they have to recover before they get to throw their counter? Or is it over if they’re ko’d? Fascinating. I’m attending one of these 100%. Is this Dana’s ? Wtf is this madness Dana hahaha. I’m in."

The rules of slap-fighting are relatively simple. Two people stand opposite each other and take turns slapping each other in the face until one gives up or gets knocked out.

The Power Slap League, helmed by the UFC president, will include weight classes and extensive medical testing to ensure the safety of the participants.
