Conor McGregor blasts Canelo Alvarez offer demand for David Benavidez clash
Canelo Alvarez is set to return to the boxing ring next month when he faces Edgar Berlanga. The four-division champion has received criticism for not facing David Benavidez and recently revealed his demands to make the fight happen, leading to criticism from Conor McGregor.
Michael Benson of talkSPORT shared comments made by Alvarez, tweeting:
"Canelo Alvarez asked why he's demanding $200million to fight David Benavidez: “Obviously he's a risk, he's a great fighter. Plus he brings to the ring on fight night 25lbs more than me. It's a risk but I don't care. If the money's right it can be tomorrow.” [@SwaysUniverse]"
McGregor responded to the tweet, stating:
"Canelo is a cornflake. He has about 300k buys in him. He does not generate nothing near what he seeks to be paid. UFC NOCHE is going to run them from the strip. Sheik Turki was right moving on. CANELO DOESN’T SELL."

While fans have looked for a clash between Alvarez and Benavidez for years, the former has not backed off his demand of $200 million to make the fight happen. He was reportedly offered a $50 million guaranteed purse. Turki Alalshikh, who McGregor referenced, recently revealed that he is no longer interested in a bout involving the four-division champion.
